As for Sydney, you left out Jews being murdered in broad daylight while celebrating a Jewish festival on Australia's most iconic beach. As an Aussie who used to live in the midst of Melbourne's vibrant Jewish community, I am just sickened to the core and in many ways I don't recognise my own country any more. And the UK, where I live now, is not exactly doing better (and as soon as I read the news yesterday, I made a donation to Hatzola North West). If I were a Jew, I would definitely be living in Israel by now ā yes, even with what's currently going on. Praying for everyone's safety there and that this utter evil of the Iranian regime cannot last. šš®š±ā¤ļø
In Montreal we have a large Jewish community that is woven into our history and culture. We all lived mostly peaceably (there are always idiots) until people who just landed here brought their hate to our city and fanned the flames in the young, the ignorant, the people whose support for the Jewish people was merely performative and are quick to scream āgenocide!ā at their little protests, those āwarriorsā who have no clue what theyāre even protesting.
There is a visible rise in antisemitism and the politicians and law enforcement issue their statements and make their arrests, but it changes nothing. They are terrified to name the real reason lest be labelled -phobic. Thereās a tension growing and not just for our Jewish friends and neighbours but for anyone who doesnāt subscribe to certain ideologies. The moral rot is rampant.
I love it. I stand with Israel. And PM Bibi and President Trump and Persian people.
